Food makeover alert!
What I love most of all when cooking in the kitchen is taking may favourite unhealthy foods and making them healthy. With only a few small changes, you can totally transform any dish from being bad to rad. .
Today’s recipe is a Healthy Hamburger Helper:
- 85g of Banza chickpea pasta
- 75g of cherry tomatoes
- 75g of loosely chopped butternut squash zoodles
- 100g of extra lean ground turkey
- 5 mL of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt, pepper, powdered garlic and onion to taste
- 5g of nutritional yeast
In a non-stick frying pan, sauté the extra lean ground turkey until browned. Add in the butternut squash and cherry tomatoes and sauté until cooked. Season with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder as you go to adjust flavouring.
In a separate pot, bring salted water to boil and cook the banza pasta until al dante. Strain the pasta water (reseving about 3 tbsp) and add the pasta and pasta water to the sautéed meat and vegetables, stirring until water has absorbed and pasta is coated with flavouring from the meat/veg.
Remove from stove. Pour olive oil over the dish and mix to coat. Then top with nutritional yeast for that cheesy taste!
